Besides a variety of shops, there are a number of things to do in Hexham.
Parks and Outdoor Areas
Despite the compact layout of the town, Hexham has large areas of green space, including the Sele park (pictured) located near Hexham Abbey, and the Tyne Riverside park alongside the River Tyne.
Both offer children’s play areas, and have plenty of footpaths. The Sele has a bandstand, whilst the Tyne Riverside park has onsite car parking and easy access from the A69 and the town’s railway station.
Cinema and Theatre
Hexham is home to the Forum Cinema, an independently owned cinema located next to the Market Place in the centre of Hexham. For details about what’s on, visit their website forumhexham.com
The Queen’s Hall Arts Centre has a theatre, and also features Hexham’s library and gallery spaces.
Hexham has a number of historic buildings including the Old Gaol. More details on these will be added soon.
Located on Beaumont Street next to Hexham’s market place, Hexham Abbey is normally open to the public from 9.30 am to 5 pm. Access may be restricted due to religious services, and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
