Barclays bank are planning on closing branches in both Haltwhistle and Prudhoe, leaving only a branch in Hexham. It is understood that the branch in Hexham will remain open (for now).
Those who are unable to, or prefer not to, use online banking will now have to travel to Hexham some considerable distance away (particularly for those in Haltwhistle). The only alternative is to use the limited facilities provided by the Post Office.
The closures are expected in August.
It has been brought to my attention that poor opening hours at both branches have prevented some customers using the branches due to working patterns.
